We offer GCSE courses in Maths, English (Language or Lit.) or the Sciences: Biology, Physics or Chemistry. They are suitable for both mature students and home educated pupils.
The courses start at any time to suit you - Students commencing study now will take their examinations in January 2021 or Summer 2021, as appropriate. The exam board is Edexcel - the largest such organisation in England. Details of the syllabuses can be see on the website - but we give you all syllabus details along with your study programme. (see Links). Since we work efficiently (we employ no admin staff) and keep our costs to an absolute minimum, we can offer fees at a sensible rate: Each GCSE course costs £325. (Option: £88 deposit then 4 instalment payments of £68 per month). We are confident that this is the best value home study available. (see Links).
As soon as we receive your Registration we send you some written work to do. Don't worry about preparing for this, it's for your tutor to assess your initial knowledge; from there they set out a suitable programme of study. In the main body of the Course you will be doing written tasks & assignments and getting the marking and advice you need. The marking we provide is very detailed so you can learn, improve and move on. Individualised follow-up tasks are set to address your weaknesses.
At all stages you can - and should - ask questions of your tutor by video call or phone or email.
Nearer the time of the examinations you will do Past Papers.
This course includes a free interactive DVD (or digital download) which most students describe as ‘brilliant!’
In Physics you will study topics which include forces, dynamics, friction, density, gases & pressure, momentum, energy transfers, waves, sound, light, planetary motion, heat, electricity, magnetism, electro-magnetism, atoms & radioactivity.
In Chemistry the topics include the periodic table, atomic bonding, electrolysis, acids & alkalis, organic compounds, reactivity, metal extraction, enthalpy, polymers, rate of reaction etc.
Many students choose Biology because it is perceived as the easiest science and it involves very little Maths.
Study for the GCSE English Language and learn the basics of a complex and intricate language through distance learning.
A much more specialised subject than English Language. Much of the work revolves around the set books: the specifics of these will be discussed and agreed with your tutor.
